Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist and Outdoor Nature Therapist

I’m Laura, a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist and Certified Outdoor Nature Therapist, working with children, teenagers and adults across Sunderland and Northumberland. I offer in-person and outdoor therapy in a way that feels calm, flexible and manageable.

You might be here because something doesn’t feel quite right. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in confidence, or finding that things are starting to feel harder to manage, either for you or your child. Sometimes it’s not easy to explain what’s going on, just that things don’t feel how they used to.

How I work

I’m often described as warm, calming and easy to talk to, but also able to sit alongside the more difficult parts of what you’re going through. I don’t assume what will help. Instead, I check in with you and adapt the way we work so that it feels as comfortable and useful as possible.

There’s no expectation to have the right words or to talk about everything all at once. Therapy can begin at a pace that feels manageable, allowing space for things to make more sense over time.

Experience and approach

My work is grounded in psychotherapy, alongside specialist training in EMDR, which can help process distressing or overwhelming experiences without needing to go into detail about everything that’s happened.

I work with children, teenagers and adults experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, trauma, low confidence and life challenges. Sessions are adapted depending on the person, which might include talking, creativity, movement, or simply having space to think.

Outdoor therapy in Northumberland

Alongside in-person sessions in Sunderland, I offer outdoor therapy in a dedicated woodland space in Longhorsley, Northumberland, within easy reach of Morpeth, Ponteland and Hexham. For some people, being outdoors can feel less intense than sitting in a room, making it easier to talk, think or simply take things one step at a time.

Outdoor sessions can be particularly helpful for children and young people, or for anyone who finds traditional therapy environments difficult to engage with.

Qualifications and professional membership

  • UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist

Working together

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You might be unsure where to begin, or whether it will help. You don’t need to have it all figured out before getting in touch.

If you’d like to find out more, you’re welcome to contact me to arrange a free 20-minute consultation. This is a chance to talk things through and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
