Frequently asked questions
What happens if I get in touch? (Free consultation)
After you get in touch, I offer a free 20-minute consultation by phone or Zoom. This is a chance for you to talk through what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of how I work. There’s no pressure to commit, it’s simply a calm conversation to help you decide what feels right.
What is an assessment session?
If you decide to go ahead, we begin with an assessment session. This gives us time to understand what’s been going on, what you or your child might need, and how we might work together. We go at a pace that feels manageable, without needing to cover everything at once.
If you wish to go ahead with therapy after the initial consultation, then we would arrange to have an assessment session. The aim of this session is to find out more about you or your child’s background and goals for therapy.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes, I offer online psychotherapy sessions via Zoom. Online sessions can provide a flexible and accessible way to access support, particularly if attending in person feels difficult.
What are EMDR therapy sessions like?
EMDR sessions are structured but flexible. We work at a pace that feels manageable, helping to process experiences that feel stuck or overwhelming without needing to go into detail about everything that has happened.
What are outdoor therapy sessions like?
Outdoor therapy takes place in a private woodland space in Northumberland. Sessions may involve walking, sitting, or using the space in a way that feels comfortable. Being outdoors can reduce pressure and make it easier to talk, think, or simply take time.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full.
How much do sessions cost?
Session fees are:
- Psychotherapy sessions: £70
- Outdoor therapy sessions: £70
- EMDR therapy sessions: £90
Fees are discussed during the initial consultation so you can decide what feels manageable.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are usually:
- Psychotherapy (in-person or online): 50 minutes
- EMDR therapy: 60 minutes
- Outdoor therapy: 60 minutes
Longer 90-minute sessions can be offered for EMDR and outdoor therapy where this feels helpful, and this can be discussed together in advance.
